Very friendly and quiet place. Wonderful staff and always happy to help. Huge variety of books , internet facility and a very good cafe .
This is a good little library, for it's size and better than Newcastle. Gateshead Council haven't wasted taxpayers money like Newcastle City Council have on their poor excuse for a library. It has a very good selection of DVDs and CDs and it's clean and well maintained. There' a decent cafe there as well. It's comfortable and has maintained it's character and dignity which is more than can be said for Newcastle Library.
Great staff, sizeable car park. Hire bikes right outside.
The best thing about Gateshead Library is their Sound Gallery - I get the latest DVDs from there and they have a huge collection of past titles. In my experience this library has been more useful than Netflix for tracking down specific movies and it is cheaper than the big online rental services.
not a good experience and not very helpful. In response to Gateshead Library as E-Mail supplied is inactive:I visited the library as I had a question, all be it about Newcastle.I had thought that Libraries being a center of information would be able to help. The first response was to go to Newcastle Library.I asked if any old maps were available to view, for Newcastle and I was directed to a corner of the room where I found maps of Gateshead!Which is why my review was, unfortunately negative, I did not have a good experience and neither was it very helpful.
