Good access from railway station to shopping centre
Modern purpose-built station with stairs and liftd to both platforms, though these are a bit narrow and congested at busy times. Fully enclosed waiting shelters with limited capacity on each platform. Access to Metrocentre and bus station via long footbridge. Car park on north side of station. Frequent train services to/from Newcastle or Hexham, though fewer trains to Carlisle.
A modern railway station on the scenic Tyne Valley Line. Steam trains including those hauled by 60103 Flying Scotsman pass through from time to time!
Nice and clean station. Needs more seating as it's always packed at every time of the day and you'll find people sitting on the floor or the walls.
